The cheapest trips from Warsaw, ranked by total cost — not flight price

VeraTrip — figures checked by hand from Warsaw

Every flight-deal site ranks destinations by the fare, because the fare is the number they have. It's also the wrong number. A €60 flight to a city where the days cost €120 each is a worse deal than a €90 flight to one where they cost €40.

So here is the honest version: every route from Warsaw we've priced by hand, ranked by what the whole four-night trip costs — flight, hostel dorm, cheap food, public transport, activities, and the tourist taxes that never show up in an advertised price. Cheapest total first.

#DestinationFlightWhole trip, 4 nights
1TiranaAlbania€85€201-275
2SofiaBulgaria€70€200-283
3BucharestRomania€90€227-311
4BudapestHungary€60€232-382
5VallettaMalta

Much of Malta is free to see; tourist-tax rate is provisional.

€110€308-432
6PortoPortugal

Tourist-tax rate still to be confirmed against an official source.

€115€326-461
7BergenNorway

No direct Warsaw flight — this is a 1-stop fare; Bergen’s nonstop Polish origin is Gdańsk. Fjord tours from ~€48 widen the range.

€160€400-628
8ReykjavikIceland€180€540-760

Ranked by whole-trip cost per day. Ground costs are estimated ranges (±20%); flights are typical return fares from Warsaw, checked 2026-07-22 — not live prices. Ranges overlap on purpose: where two trips are genuinely too close to call, the numbers say so.

The flight order is not the trip order

Sort that table by the fare and Budapest wins outright at €60. Sort by the trip and it slips to 4th — because what you pay after you land is most of the cost, and the fare barely gates it.

Reykjavik makes the point loudest. It's the single most expensive trip on the list at €540–760, well over double the cheapest. Its flight is the priciest here too, at €180 — but that's the small half of the story: the ground cost is what does the damage, and none of it is visible at the point where you're choosing a flight.

The top two are a tie, and the numbers say so

Tirana and Sofia come out at roughly €200–283 for the four nights, and their ranges overlap almost completely. That overlap is the honest answer: these two are too close to separate by a real euro. Bucharest sits just behind now that its fare is checked live (€227–311). Anyone ranking the top of this list with confident single prices is inventing precision that isn't there — pick Tirana or Sofia by the flight time you like; they cost about the same.

What this list does not pretend

  • Ground costs are estimates, researched from independent budget-travel guides and good to about ±20%. That's why every figure is a range.
  • Flights are typical fares, checked by hand on Google Flights (22 July 2026) — not live prices. They exist only to rank the trips honestly. For today's real fare, each destination page hands off to Google Flights.
  • Porto's and Malta's tourist taxes are provisional and flagged as such until we confirm the current rate with an official source. We'd rather show the flag than a confident wrong number.
  • This is Warsaw only. We price a route only once we've confirmed it runs as a real direct flight, so cities we track but haven't yet priced from Warsaw simply aren't on this list. That silence is deliberate, not missing homework.

See it for yourself

The front-page map does this for every destination and origin we track, and recomputes the whole ranking the moment you change the trip length or the airport you're flying from. The list above is just today's snapshot from one airport, written down.
